NEW VENUE - PETRIE HOTEL - WITH COMPETITION Description The Competition begins January 7th 2006 and is held over 8 weeks. 7 weeks of heats 8th week is the final. 2 songs are performed each heat. Heats are run as part of the normal rotation, rounds 2 and 3 so as to not take time away from normal karaoke. Points from both performances are tallied at the end of the heat. Registration There will be a limit to 10 contestants per Heat. The first 10 registration sheets to be handed in will be the contestants for that night. Registration sheets will be available from the Funda Down Unda Karaoke Hosts at the beginning of the night. Qualification The competition is open to Amateurs that have not won more than $5000 in prize money in the last 12 months. Each heat the top 2 contestants from the judges’ marks, PLUS 1 contestant from the audience choice, Will qualify for the final on week 8. Winners of the heats will be announced at the end of the night, you must be there to gain your place in the final. Duets Duets are treated as a solo act and will accrue points on the same basis as individuals. You can’t register as a solo and as part of a duet act. Songs and Discs Each competitor must perform no more than one ballad in each heat (the ballad must be your first song) you may sing 2 Up-Beat songs in each heat. The same songs are permitted to be sung at the final as the judges will be completely new. If you get through you may need 3 songs, once again only one ballad. The same song may be performed by different competitors on different nights only. (first come first served) Contestants may provide their own karaoke discs; however, all discs must be fully licensed originals. (If the discs are not in great condition the hosts will not accept them) (no pirated discs will be permitted) Permitted disc formats include CD+G, VCD and CD.
