Here is some of the information for the Competition starting in January 2010. It is open to all singers over the age of 18 years. Comp begins 16th January 2010. 9 weeks of heats 16th January to the 13th March 2010. Final is on 27th March 2010. Singers may enter as many times as they like during the heats and their best score will be used to see if they qualify for the final. The top 20 competitors go through to the final. Winning competitors shall be notified by email on the 15th of March 2010. Registration sheets will be available at the beginning of the night. Employees of Spirit Hotels and Funda Down Unda are not able to enter. Duets are welcome but will be treated on the same bases as a solo act. You can’t register as a solo and as part of a duet act. Each competitor may perform any song of their choice in the Heats as many times as they like but the song that got them into the Final shall not be permitted to be sung by that competitor in the Final. Songs are to be chosen from the hosts songbooks. Contestants accumulate points based on: Stage presence, Audience interaction, Appearance, Vocal Ability, Vocal Selection, Knowledge of material, Audience Reaction, Attitude. Please note in the final your dress plays a part in the points. Format for the grand final is based on 3 rounds. Round 1: The top 20 contestants will sing an upbeat song (ballads will not be allowed) Round 2: The top 14 contestants from round 1 will sing a second song of their choice. Round 3: The top 8 contestants from round 2 will sing a song that will be chosen from a bucket, these songs will be well known popular songs. To determine the overall winner the scores from all contestants 3 songs will be added together to see who wins the prize money.
