Welll things are just not feeling great at The Sphinx for karaoke. The times as written above are not accurate for a start. Was there tonight (more like early Saturday morning) got there at 12:30am and found Laurie was yet to start his first rotation. Eventually at 1am he finally got into it after a certain patron who will (like always on here) remain first nameless ;) had to get on stage and work out that he had not turned on his video converter and that it also had a very poor connection. Happened to overhear a conversation with one of the Owners and it appears they don't seem willing to spend money on what is essentially aging equipment. Then he was calling out the name of one singer who is a BIG regular and, through no fault of anything to do with alcohol, Laurie knows takes a little longer than most to get to the stage, when he gave up on her and called a music break. This ended up being close to 20-25 minutes. This regular also confirmed with me her displeasure in what had happened and only added to my ever increasing lack of positive opinion for this venue. To add to that, the second rotation started at 2am and was so short it was all over by 2:30am. So essentially, although advertised above as 11:30pm - 3am, all Karaoke was held between 1am and 2:30am. PATHETIC!!!
