Despite Karaoketragic having a go at my diminutive stature on his review of my local venue in Colac, (I can't help being a frail and delicate litle wallflower, Ian!) The Barman and I decided to head down to "Willy" Saturday night and check out the show. What a great night! With Mary often hosting from the street as she ducked out to partake of the evils of nicotine, the night started slowly as people drifted in. Ably backed by mixer Craig behind the desk (who was quickly all over an early sound problem!), the pair rode heard on a show, that by the end of the night, trod the happy line of total chaos! Don't get me wrong, the rotation was long and fair, it's just by the end of the night, as with all good karaoke shows, the crowd was really buzzing. The achilles heel of the cutom's house show lies with the venue. Is slow or no service a new "responsible serving of alcohol" protocol? I was waiting for a drink when i was called up to sing. After doing the full 8.5 minute version of "paradise by the dashboard light" with Mary, the guy who had been waiting beside me at the bar was still waiting!! Maybe hipflasks and hydration packs are the way to go. But all in all a good fun night was had by all!!
