It is not hard to see why the Louisiana Tavern rates so highly as a karaoke venue in SA on W2S. The Louisiana Tavern is centrally located in the heart of the Elizabeth Shopping Centre's entertainment precinct and features a warm, inviting atmosphere. The sound quality is excellent, the large plasma screen mounted behind the stage/singer encourages crowd participation, the raised stage provides the singer with an enhanced performance experience, and the KJ's move the night along at a good pace. What struck me in particular was how U18 friendly this venue is - all the youngsters I saw perform were enthusiastically encouraged and supported by the KJs and crowd alike..... The crowd's ages ranged from I reckon 4 to 70 and the extensive, high quality song listing easily catered for the diverse tastes of that wide age bracket - everything from Kesha/Taylor Swift back to Tammy Wynette and beyond. Given the gig's Wednesday timeslot, the gig does however run the risk of being a little hit and miss in so far as crowd numbers are concerned, but the timeslot I think is also its key strength as it is perhaps arguably better suited to catering for younger performers than Friday/Saturday night venues. I stongly recommend the Louisiana Tavern and look forward to getting back there again soon!
