Scotty: After asking the host about your comments, this is his reply: "In a typical Tuesday, I go for two or three smokes, new singers come through sporadically. Four new singers in a row is something that wouldn't occur to me to do and to my recollection has never happened. By 730, we usually have 10-15 singers, by 8, most have arrived. About this time of the evening, first in best dressed is my goal. I get everyone up for their first song and start Round 2 at approx 8pm. Names out of the hat happens once every four weeks or so when rotation length exceeds time, and having spoken to all the regulars about it, they have expressly told me they don't mind. That way, everyone in the room gets a fair chance to sing in the last rotation. It also keeps people there who otherwise wouldn't have stayed with the chance to get another song that they otherwise might not have. I feel it benefits everyone as ten people could show up at 630 and hand slips in. Come 1030 and they all expect a song for getting in so early. I found the best way to make it fair was the raffle, which, again, hasn't happened in weeks."
