From the Where2sing.com singers' feedback on karaoke gigs: This karaoke gig runs weekly 8pm-Midnight on Saturdays First time here and was pleasantly surprised. A very short walk from Kingsgrove station. The RSL was re-done about a year ago and is very nice. I like a place with clean toilets! Short wait at the bar. Did not wait once. $2.80 schooner of beer and about $3.60 for glass spirits & mixer. Friendly staff. Ages ranged from mid 20's to about 80 (man that lady could boogie for her age!). The night we went there was probably about 30 people and about 10 were singers. The host said it's usually much busier but I think it's his first week back after Christmas so maybe people do not realise it's on or are on holidays. We got there at about 8.30 and left at midnight and got about 4 songs each. Gig is karaoke with disco songs in between singers which if your a hard core singer you might not like. If you like to boogie though it is fun and song choices are good and had lots of energy. Dance floor is big. Room has decent acoustics, the sound is excellent, the wireless mikes are great. No foldback but none needed. Singer has personal monitor (tv) and there is a massive screen behind the singer with a projection of the graphics so the patrons can read the lyrics as the singer performs. Host has artist & song books (i just love having both, should be mandatory!!) Excellent stage and dancefloor lights. The host, Dean nice enough. Is very energetic and likes to have fun with the audience and involve them from time-to time. Likes to entertain. Also likes to hand out $2.80 drink vouchers for singers and people who get involved which is cool. Dean likes to flirt. Personally I think if he wants to make that "cheekiness" part of the show he probably should make the comments over the microphone to the audience and not to the female singers as they get offstage as he might come across as being sleazy. But hey, that's just my observation.
