From the Where2sing.com singers' feedback on karaoke gigs: This karaoke gig runs weekly 8pm-unknown on Saturdays Had a bad experience with this one - Katana Karaoke. First, the ups. A good, long and reasonably up-to-date list, crowd size fluctuates from six to thirty - car parking at the venue is great. A small stage (with lights) allows the singer to work from a centralized area and apart from one post obscuring a small area, the view of the audience (rather audience-to-singer is clear). The downs: The operator leaves the music turned up far too high, ALL THE TIME. There is little good control of music-to-voice, foldback-to-front-of-house, or music-to-venue. He often leaves the controls (and the room) when the singers perform and then returns after the song has ended, leaving the audience to cover their ears (if the singer has poor mike control) in the duration. From a singer's standpoint, foldback sound can't be heard from the monitor because the echo bounced back from the main speakers is louder. All-round, this is/was a poorly managed gig. (Please note: I have since heard that this guy is no longer there. A new operator has been employed) Find out which karaoke venue this feedback was written about, and read more singers' feedback as well as giving your own feedback on karaoke gigs you've visited, on Where2sing.com . . . |
