From the Where2sing.com singers' feedback on karaoke gigs: This karaoke gig runs weekly 8pm-Midnight on Saturdays PART 1 --- Disclaimer: Ex Karaoke Host with strong opinions on rotation management and sound quality. There's not a lot going on karaoke wise in the Upper Hunter from what I can tell and a lack of competition can sometimes allow things to plateau and drop in quality. I did have my misgivings about coming out a country pup for karaoke because of that, despite the positive feedback already attached to this gig. Plenty of parking both street side and via a car park around the back of the pub means that you won't have issues getting here and I recommend getting here early as the bistro shuts at 8pm and the locals start pouring into the small pub between 8 and 9 so appropriate seating becomes scarce. While the host was a little on the quiet side and there were some issues with sound (best guess due to speaker age), this gig is one of the shining examples of karaoke at its best. The simple fact is that while we all crow on about the need for a big fat songlist, sterling sound and a maniac entertainer as a host, this show is great despite not having any of those thing. The songlist is about 4000 (no duplicates) but I didn't struggle to find anything to sing. All the classics and all the must have newer stuff is here, the songs that are missing that appear in the 30,000+ lists are those B-side tracks from the 4th album of the one hit wonder from the 90s type songs. So what makes this gig so great? I can't speak as to the usual nightlife in this neck of the woods but something tells me that there's not that many options and so the locals come out in force and are very very supportive of karaoke here. Rotations went for about an hour across all 4 hours and yet there were a good 60 or so people crammed into the place. The owners (I presume) were there are kicking up their heels and the security guard (a bit of a butch looking lesbian) was merely the “protective brother” until someone got a little silly.
