From the Where2sing.com singers' feedback on karaoke gigs: This karaoke gig runs weekly 9pm-3am on Tuesdays replying to quote - "Very much a 1 drink, 1 song and bugger off venue" While I'm very much open to hearing complaints and compliments about Billy Goat Karaoke, allow me to defend the host and venue in this case... I tell Matt to run the rotation the way I did when I started the gig there (which he does). If you're there in the first half of the night (except in extreme cases like this Tues), you get multiple songs - singers on this forum would have experienced that at the show - I remember clearly the locals singing 3-6 songs a night . The later you arrive, the less songs you get - logical. On a non-extreme but still busy night, the first rotation will be about 1.5 hours. If there is an influx of people, naturally the second rotation cannot stay at 1.5 hours - it HAS to grow, otherwise it means singers from round 1 are getting two songs in round 2, while new singers are only getting one round 2 song. So yes, round 2 can be up to 3 hours. On an extreme night like this Tues, where, from what I understand with people telling me, there was about 70 people in the first quarter of the night, then there is no way you're going to keep everyone happy, as it's just a freakin' busy night, and singers just have to wait regardless if you're a local, as you don't have a right to a second song over Joe Blow or Jennifer Hawkins. Like I said - I'm open to hearing comments, so if I've got this wrong, please explain the numbers to me the way you explained them to people at the gig. If our rotation system needs reworking, I will address it. Like you said, it's a great venue, so you could always solve the problem by singing at a not-so-great venue, where you'll get 10 songs. Just don't sit too close to the locals (thank god for our locals - we LOOOOVE you!!!).
