Hi guys, I was just reading over all these comments and reminiscing. My god this gig has gone through some changes since it started 12 years ago. It's seen it's fair share of host changes as well. I've been running the show for a number of years now, though for a good while it was run by Rufus, ever since I left to go backpacking around North America for a year in April 2010. Now days we share the 3 weekly karaoke nights with me on Wednesdays and Thursdays and Rufus on Fridays. Upon my return to the helm on Wednesday nights, I re-instituted the theme of 'Hard Rock Wednesdays'. A theme that grew from the number of young, alternative adults who live in and travel to Newtown for it's acceptance and embrace of anything out of the mainstream. Wednesdays now tend to have a large group of regulars who obviously enjoy their rock, metal, punk, etc, but it's not at all uncommon to hear one of them throw stereotypes to the wind and sing some Disney or Lady Gaga to an appreciative response. Anyone and everyone is welcomed and encouraged. The already extensive song list has grown even bigger, still with the expansive range of genres, obscure tracks and of course all the favourites. The system is always being upgraded and maintained both by us and by Kelly's, to keep it sounding top-notch. And anyone who knows me, knows I run a strict but fair ship when it comes to singer rotation. Numbers can fluctuate with the seasons, but intimate or crowded, it's always a fun night. There was an issue with punctuality of start time, but that issue has been addressed. Any other constructive feedback will be taken on board.
