Thank you to all our competitors in our KWC Venue Finals on Sunday.night at the Knox Club. What a show they gave us. Everyone did themselves proud. Each competitor sang two songs and the top five were then picked to perform a 3rd song. Our winner on the night was Kieran, 2nd Andrea, 3rd Terry, 4th Paul and 5th Kellie. The competition was very tight and there could have been another 3 or 4 picked to sing again as the points were so close. Our judges were, Derrick J & Billy Whyte and Amy West. Derrick J is well known as a singer, having been on TV shows, such as Bert Newton, Denise & Ernie show and many more shows. He has had 8 albums, with 3 gold albums. He was very encouraging and inspired many of the singers with his story on how he persevered in the music industry until he became a success story. He was kind enough to give each competitor an autographed cd as well as midifiles to the top 3 winners and an encouragement award . Billy Whtye has his own Rod Stewart show around Melbourne and has been in show business for 35 years. He was also inspiring to the singers by giving them tips when entering a competition. Both judges sang a song from our Karaoke list and were loved by the audience. Amy is my daugher and an avid music lover, has a very good ear for modern and older music. Thank you to Capital Karaoke who sponsored us by sending a heap of free disc vouchers. A good night was had by all and now we can concentrate on the next level, the State Finals. The singers names are starting to roll in as they win their venue finals. State Finals being held on Sunday the 11th June, Queens Birthday weekend. Small cover charge will apply.
