Kizzy, James & Pa run Karaoke Kings. We headed over to Ipswich to check them out. Lucky we left early, finding the place isnt hard if you realise that Brisbane St is a one way street & you actually split off it, but that ok just keep going & you will see the sign to turn right back into it. Travel a short distance down Brisbane st & you will see the Settlers on the left hand side. Just past the Pub there is a lane/road leading to ample parking behind the pub. When first entering the pub you will think OMG we are back in the old days, it is the traditional drinking hole of days gone by, i dont think there was anything that has been renovated, but this adds the the appeal of trying something different. Its not a large place but contains the nessesary components, a bar with friendly staff, couple of pool tables, small room for us gamblers. Now for the Karaoke it runs from 8.30pm to 12.30am. The song books are quite extensive & you shouldn\'t have a problem with finding a song. James is not your typical host he is a bit of a larican always picking on Kizzy (in fun of course), & boy can he sing....sweet voice. Mick (Pa) is the man to see if you want advise or help with your song selections & keeps everything in order for James. Kizzy is the Social Butterfly chatting & singing a couple of songs. The sound quality was good & you could hear yourself & the music really well. The crowd is responsive to the singers with plenty of encouragement which in lends itself to be an enjoyable, fun night. You can sing just about anything here as the crowd ranges in age from young to older than us. The night starts off slow with only a few singers so you can get a few songs in before 10pm, it gets to standing room only later in the night. This is a place you should go & check out, dont be put off with first impressions cause what you may think the venue lacks is far outwayed by the crowd & great karaoke hosts.
