From the Where2sing.com singers' feedback on karaoke gigs: This karaoke gig runs weekly 10pm-1am on Fridays Venue easily found up Castle St from Castle Towers shopping centre. Karaoke held in Sports Bar - more casual dress than in rest of club. Starts when footy finishes (as late as 10:30 sometimes), ends at 1am. Bistro service ends 10pm - eat first Friendly host and sound technician (who’s a real character). All singers placed in cash draw for chance to win either, $100, $75 or $25, towards the end of the night. Corded microphones. Fair singer rotation (song slip based entry) but if singers are considered too drunk, they’ll miss their turn (common sense). Mixed talent ranging from average to terrific. "No drinks on stage" policy. No swearing permitted – even if song calls for it; so edit your language if necessary. Small but adequate stage, big screen audience-TV immediately behind singers. Signal from disc player to TV is faulty (b & w picture with distortion) but works to karaokers’ advantage as audience prefers to watch them rather than suffer eye ache from the screen. KJ stage lighting but venue warmly lit, so flicker rates causing mood swings not an issue. Narrow but adequate dance area (carpeted) for those so inclined. Much seating but big crowd with minimal turnover; come early for a guaranteed seat. Good sound i.e.: conversation friendly without sacrificing volume. Good song list with large mix of contemporary songs and golden oldies Most suitable for 18 - mid-40s age bracket. Other sections of this enormous club remain open till 2:30am (DJ area, lounges, outdoor areas, bistro seating, pokies area) for those wishing to round off their evening. Watchful security at venue also. Courtesy bus runs even after karaoke ends. Well recommended karaoke venue!!
