Negative comments??? The hosts: VERY fair and NEVER rude. Don't know why folk would suggest otherwise. A subjective perspective but for my money, it's got heaps of great ATMOSPHERE. Fridays more so than Wednesdays in my honest opinion but always good. Trouble rears its head less often than a blue moon. Great security. 1 of the guys on desk duty at the main entrance could use some smile lessons but everyone else is friendly and welcoming. The barstaff is courteous and always up for a laugh. Before you know it, you've built a rapport with everyone! It's great. Sometimes dead & if the lights are on, that detracts a little from the experience but it's all good. Just have company to counter those occasions and you're set. If you're more of a loner, you can still have fun. If you're social but alone, compliment singers you like and you'll likely be invited to join them once they see you all alone. That's how friendly folk there are. Chatty's got great atmosphere by the ton. The Comp certainly does NOT take up most of the night. Maybe an hour or just over if there's a couple of long songs or people take their time getting on stage. Usually goes 10:30 -11:30. The gig goes till 1am! However, if busy, the comp gets pushed back to around 11 in order to fit more folk in first! Rotation afterwards stays fair by giving preference to singers who did not compete. Only an hour out of the night and the club has plenty to do if heats aren't your thing. Just mosey on back for your song afterwards. On grand final night, you get 1-2 hours for regular singing before the comp gets underway and MORE between rounds. Song list, sound, pace: all grand and professional. Excellent venue. Club priced drinks. Dance floor to shake your booty on (allowed at grand finals too provided you don't block the judges' view or make too much noise).
