I've been to Kelly's many times, it's one of my favourite venues for karaoke.
The list is superb, very big with lots of variety.
The host is good, enthusiastic but doesn't talk to much and doesn't waste time with stupid dance breaks etc.
The best thing about the place is the diversity of singers. Even if some of theme are a little 'out there'! LOL. Just like any venue, you get some crap and you get some real talent, and it's always different, just depends on the night.
The positioning is great. Even though it's an oddly shaped hotel, very long and thin, the front half of the bar is where the action is and up the back where the bar is it's a bit quieter if you just want to chat and drink. But down the from, the singer is situated in the middle of everyone, in front of a big screen on the opposite wall so even if you don't know your words you're still looking up instead of down at a little monitor on the floor.
If you like a big open venue where everyone sits down and quietly listens to the same old people singing the same old boring ballads every week then this may not be the place for you, but if you think karaoke might just be a fun night out with friends, a few drinks and a few laughs, then you won't be disappointed if you come to Kelly's!
