Friday 29 Feb 2008 THE ALMA SPORTSCLUB – One Year On - FIRST IMPRESSIONS: I had to rush here (from The Bush Inn), because if I missed it, I would have to wait 2 weeks as they are only on fortnightly. The last time I was here, I had the whole carpark to pick a parking spot. This time around, I had to drive around, twice, to find a spot! One year on, at 10.30pm. I walked in to a packed ALMA SPORTSCLUB! Boy, they couldn’t get another person in there if they tried! The old dining room was opened up, and it’s now one large venue, with tables and chairs, and all filled up! My estimate – 120+ people. Looks like someone had a big pre-booked dinner party there that night too. Great karaoke crowd, from aged 6 or 7, to a few in their 70s I guess. The place was a sea of happy smiling faces, ALL listening attentively to all the singers, clapping and singing along, with great supportive applauses. One year on, I recognize half a dozen faces that were there when I last visited, and they recognize me too, which was nice.
