RETURN VISIT 13 March 2008: THE IMPROVEMENTS: New song books!! With all the odd bits and pieces now all amalgamated into one list (one by artist and another by song title) … whoohoo!! Maybe I’m used to my 50 songs to a page format : as I still find 90-100 songs to a page very hard to read : but with borrowed reading glasses, no problem then (maybe I should leave vanity at home and bring my reading glasses the next visit!). Karaoke started not long after 8pm, which is far better than being an hour past advertised starting time that’s for sure!! A 7.30pm start time should work for this venue – as there’s plenty of passing traffic outside, and the hosts have a very prominent A-Frame on the footpath to catch their attention; also the suburb being only a 10-15 minute drive from Melbourne Central, local city-workers could have been home, eaten and freshened up to make it there for a 7.30pm start. Maybe a spruiker on the footpath handing out Half-Price-Karaoke-Happy-Hour (7.30-8.30) Drink Vouchers should draw in some newcomers off the street … THE VERDICT: My 1st visit observations and opinions are confirmed, and with my 2 negative comments acted on, YES, The Balaclava will be one of my regular local karaoke haunts.
