RETURN VISIT Wed 13 March 2008: What is it with people and taking things out of context and making opinions based on 2nd hand filtered information? Last night I was confronted by a regular at The Balaclava (a “karaoke acquaintance” of some 20+ years standing) who barked at me that if I haven’t got anything to say, then don’t say it – referring to my review of this venue posted a couple of weeks ago – in particular he said that “They started late that night because there aren’t that many singers around as yet.” Someone must have told him about that one (of 2) negative comment I posted, and just concentrated on that and ignored the other good aspects I detailed in my review, leaving others the very wrong impression that I canned the venue. Hello!!??!! My overall verdict about the venue was this: “Comfortable feel about the place; I enjoyed myself; I will frequent The Balaclava.” and if that’s a canning, well you haven’t read any of the vitriol I can muster up about a place I do not like!! In this case I blame the rumour-monger for concentrating on one aspect of my honest review and misleading others with it; I also blame this acquaintance for not reading the whole review and then pass judgement! Borrowing an expressive word from LB .. PHHT!!
