From the Where2sing.com singers' feedback on karaoke gigs: This karaoke gig runs weekly 8:30pm-unknown on Thursdays 2nd RETURN VISIT Thurs 13 Mar 08 – THE KARAOKE: Started right on starting time of 9pm (now I know!!) when the room was already alive and buzzing with people and excitement – total numbers swelled to some 55-60 at it’s peak, and great for us guys, with 75% of them being females! Nat, who said she’s fresh back from performing at The Grand Prix (there are various musical stages at the Grand Prix; she performed at one of them), was in top form, with Matt as a great “2nd Banana”. There were singers and songs of various capabilities, vintages and styles; and for the dancier numbers, the whole room to a person was up singing along and dancing – to me, that’s karaoke heaven – no prima donnas, just everyone having fun, together! Last night was grassroots karaoke at its absolute best – lots of singers, no one cared about the list of only 1000 songs, or the rather amateurish tinny sound, or the non professional karaoke player (no key-changer)! Prizes given out for the night again seemed fair and reasonable to me. THE VERDICT: My theory was once again proven – give any OK Host a room full of “normal” participative karaoke goers, a small songlist of only 1000 – 1500 songs (but one with the Top 100 most requested karaoke songs, and a small splattering of new songs), playable equipment, and a great show can be guaranteed! Once again, Nat and Matt strutted their showmanship and made-do with whatever meagre equipment they had to put on a great karaoke show! Again I stress that it’s not a venue for the elitist karaoke’er who demands at least 5000 song choices and concert-like conditions.
