Start of KWC 2008 Comp : Heat 2 : Thurs 27 March 2008. Karaoke comps per se bring out the worst in people and I do dislike them with a vengance, but I was so impressed with the way the 1st. KWC 2008 Heat was run at the Matt Flinders that I went back last night to see if it was a one-off success (in my eyes) – one Heat where EVERYONE agreed with the selection of the Winner and Runner-Up, where, in my opinion, there was no bias nor favouritism shown – a karaoke comp rarity indeed! And boy! Gasp, Golly Gosh, Shock! Nat and Matt got it right again, the 2nd week in a row! They were spot-on with the Winner and Runner-Up in my book for this Heat No.2 (and those 2 individuals are neither friends of the hosts nor weekly regulars!!). A genuine and fair karaoke comp!!??!! Wow! It was also such a non-competitive, fun and happy atmosphere Nat and Matt created that everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly : the competitors, the comp-chasers, the non-competing attendees (yours truly amongst them) : and all this is achieved with a minimalist songlist and a bad sound system!! The friendship and goodwill amongst all at the end of the night was amazing to behold!!
