Valley Fiesta returns to the Valley Entertainment Precinct this weekend, Friday, September 12th – 14th! Bigger than ever, Valley Fiesta is serving up the best of national and local bands and entertainers, as well as kid’s activities, DJs and performance art throughout the entire weekend. And it’s all FREE! This year Fiesta also introduces the Emerging Artists program, supported by Queensland Rail. Fifteen local upcoming artists were chosen from more than 220 entries to play at the festival. Of that 15, five will be chosen to perform at the opening of the QR Brunswick St Station refurbishment later this year, with one lucky band receiving a cash prize to kick start their career. Some of the finest DJs and KJs will also be keeping the tunes pumping throughout the weekend, including: AJAX, CHRISTIAN MOY, PAUL ISON, DJ AK47, DJ DANNY (EMPIRE), HUMP DAY PROJECT, ACT YO AGE, DJ PETE SMITH (MET BAR) ROVICS KARAOKE (RG) AND TEENAGE BAD GIRL AND TYDI (FAMILY). And what Valley Fiesta would be complete without the performance artists roving the Valley? This year’s activities include performances from CONTACT CREW, FASHION PARADES, FLIPSIDE CIRCUS, A CIRCUS WORKSHOP, PHOENIX FIRE HULA HOOPS GIRLS, KRUMPING DISPLAYS, DRAG QUEENS, POLYNESIAN DANCE and ART INSTALLATIONS FROM ROOM 40. This year’s Valley Fiesta also includes associated events, such as Big Sound 2008: Music Industry Summit and Showcase, the Chinese Moon Festival, busking competition, and performance program at the Judith Wright Centre. Channel 10’s Video Hits will also be presenting an entire show from Valley Fiesta, with a special Video Hits chill out area in the Chinatown Mall. You can watch your favourite artists being interviewed by Video Hits host, Nathan, get autographs and maybe even get your mug on TV!
