From the Where2sing.com singers' feedback on karaoke gigs: This karaoke gig runs weekly 8:30pm-1am on Fridays The interesting debate around hosts singing is always a good one. The night in particular was an unusually quiet one for us at this venue. We use a running sheet to keep tabs on our rotations to not only be as fair as we can, but also to be seen to be fair. This also gives us the opportunity to perform and provide some statistical analysis of any given night. On the night in question: Rotation #1 - consisted of 6 singers. Of these, only the first 2 remained the whole night to sing 4 songs, 2 sang 3, and 2 sang twice. Rotation #2 – consisted of 15 singers. Of these, 6 were singing their second song and nine their first. Only 5 of the 15 from this rotation sang in the 3rd rotation. Rotation #3 – consisted of 18 singers. Of these 4 (from Rotation #1) singing their 3rd song, 6 (from Rotation #2) singing their 2nd song, and 8 were new singers, (late arrivals). Rotation #4 – consisted of 3 singers. Of these 2 (from Rotation #1) sang 4 times, and 1 (from Rotation #2) sang 3 times. If you had stayed to the end you would also have been able to sing a 4th song. From the above you can determine that we had a night with people coming and going, and not a lot of singers actually staying for the whole night. As far as the hosts singing 3 songs each, this was certainly not the norm. We almost always both sing at the start of the first rotation to ensure both the stage sound and the audience sound mix are right. We try and achieve the best sound possible – hence the quality of equipment we use, Bose PA coupled with JBL EON for Fold-back, so we have a vested interest in thorough sound checking at the start of each night.
