(....continued)... Not staying all night, I can't comment on how the audience numbers ended up, nor whether the sound balance or style of hosting improved. If anyone wants to compare this gig with the well-known one at Chatswood RSL, they would be like chalk and cheese - the RSL has excellent sound, is held in an auditorium with a proper stage and lights, has an established hardcore of singers including some extremely good ones, has a spot-on rotation and a highly experienced hosting team, is a true club atmosphere, and is regularly voted for by many well-known W2Sers. Whereas Chatswood Club is more a 'corner of the pub' atmosphere albeit with great equipment, let down somewhat by rather average sound (due to the mix) and very rudimentary hosting skills. I apologise if my comments seem harsh, but in the face of host-presented information that includes 'professional sound system, band quality sound, just the right volume', I think a little correction in the name of accuracy is required. I do believe that this host attracts several of his workmates to experience karaoke for the first time, and that it is this that's reflected in the voting - almost certainly encouraged by the host. For the serious W2Ser, this gig is worth a look from perhaps 5pm or 6pm, though likely to be a little disappointed by the quality of sound and the layout of the venue - it would better suit the karaoke novice who wishes an unchllenging environment and perhaps an easy entry into karaoke. Finally, I applaud the host on his obvious investment in equipment, his encouragement of friends into discovering karaoke, and perhaps I could suggest a little caution in overstating the information for a gig which woudl otherwise be treated more kindly by reviewers.
