Live music sells an experience that lets people indulge for a few hours - be it the actual music, the personas' or the atmosphere of 1/2 million people in the same stadium. Robbie Williams, as screwed up as he is, knows this and plays his role to perfection. He is basically the John Farnham of the X-Y generation.
He *is* lucky in that he has partnered with some excellent song writers, and perhaps hasn't looked after them as well as he should have, and has ended up with a surprising good pop catalog that is just naughty enough, but not too much that it truly offends. Having said that, I'll stick with our local artists as they are right up there.. You Am I, Sleepy Jackson, Evermore, Eskimo Joe ( haven't caught them live yet ) as they are fan-bloody-tastic playing live at reasonable ticket prices.
