| From the Where2sing.com forum: I'm glad you understand the complexities of running a website that is seeking to attach real people to email addresses, and thus kep some reality. And, in that it's different from many websites. Oh, and no, websites is not the only business in which I've been involved.
When I make suggestions to hosts, or tackle a particular subject, I'm normally specific in my subjects - so my suggestion that more hosts would do well to copy the Funda approach to getting promotional material out to prospective venues is not a suggestion to copy everything that Funda does.
I'm happy when hosts promote W2S to their singers, but not impressed when they simply pressgang those under their control into voting for them - especially when it extends to sitting at the computer with them and directing their voting. And it is indeed a little challenging at times to determine how code should be written so that people are correctly attached to all their email addresses, and if some hosts did not create multiple email addresses for themselves purely for the purpose of voting for their own gigs, then the same hosts would not end up with all the email addresses for all people involved in the business attached to the one identity.
I would be (indeed was) delighted to see Chatswood RSL challenged for the top spot in the Top 10. I have said before that my own vote is with a different venue, and it may be that this is now in the Top 10 because my reviews of it prompted others to visit it and vote for it.
Actually, this subject is really, really simple. Vote honestly, and everything will be fine - but try to rort the system and there's a penalty.
