| From the Where2sing.com forum: Kev... in reply to your earlier question about speakers, I've seen all of those brands in places where I've thought the sound was good (but can't remember seeing Quest), and I tend to observe brands because I'm writing a review. But when I'm in a place where the sound is surprisingly good and I'm prompted to immediately look and take note of the speakers, they are often EV.
That might be because often the smaller EV speakers provide a surprisingly large sound, or it might be that hosts with minimal equipment tend to use EV and I'm prompted by the size of their equipment (can I say that?) versus the full sound to take note of the speakers. Without referring back to the review, my memory of the Noosa Heads LIfesaving Club (which has my vote) was using surprisingly small EVs but with an equally surprisingly full sound.
However, I know Mr Deal favours powered Wharfies (that's the speakers, not the people), and he's pretty canny about getting the most for his dollar. So the answer to your question of what to buy might be based on a lot more factor's than just how singers rate particular brands. If you're after a long answer, I'm sure Vic is going to oblige with a page of comparisons....
