| From the Where2sing.com forum: David....often your smaller speakers 12' are clearer and more sensitive than 15' speakers....although sometimes they lack the lower end frequencies on their own .....probably due to the size of the enclosure more than anything else ....thats why they are a perfect choice for use with a subwoofer...but yes .....the EV are nice sounding speakers..as are the Opera for that matter.....Kev you probably know that the more sensitive the speaker the louder and clearer it will be at comparable levels of power...and those specifications are more important than the actual wattage which in itself can be a very confusing issue and generally speaking RMS/AES x2= Program Powerx2 = Peak power...so dont be fooled by speakers rated PGM (program power) ...even tho it may be accurate ....it means little when trying to match them to an amplifier.... and the RMS value/channel of your Amp should be at least 1.5-2.5 times the RMS rating of your speakers...not the other way around as Capital Karoke have suggested in their helpfull hints section (sorry Darryl) lol ....as an under powered amp is more likely to blow your speakers than a slightly over powered amp
Have a look(listen) to the B52 speakers at Light and Sounds.....I reckon they sound great myself and when my JBL`s kark it ...thats what I will be looking at .....although I am reasonably happy with my JBL`s I just feel they lack clarity mid range
