From the Where2sing.com forum:

Greetings folks. Only 2 things this time and not my usual gargantuan posts YAY!! lol

First: David...
I don't understand the concern over posts containing gig info which may be out of date because included with each post is the date and universal (I assume) time of the post, so surely someone in possession of at least SOME gray matter could see the info to possibly be out of date for themselves and thus either check the gig listing or phone the venue themselves?

Second: Kev...
I've seen a few of the brands you mention in action but not always mixed well.
Peavey seems to give a little too much top end for my money - not just with karaoke but even guitar amps but those skilled with the mixing controls can get decent sound out of 'em.
I encountered one show with the best sound I've ever heard at a karaoke but that may have been as much the room as the equipment and I'm afraid I don't recall what brand they were using - it was Hound Dog Karaoke when they used to run a talent quest at a sports club in Rydalmere (NSW). They had the best Elvis Presley list I've ever seen too but have never seen them since unfortunately. :( If you can track them down, ask what equipment they used back then.
HOWEVER, one show I DO recall was Giggolo Karaoke at the City Hotel, Campbelltown (NSW) where host Noel had the second best sound I've ever heard using these thin, cylindrical Bose speakers. I have a pair of small, squarish Bose speakers myself which pump out an incredible, full sound in spite of their home stereo speaker size. I guess they're the Yoda of speakers. I've heard them recommended by one other person in karaoke too - I think on this very forum a couple of years ago. So, Bose might be worth a look in for you too. =)
