From the Where2sing.com forum:

I recently returned from a stay in Russia, mainly Siberia.
Being summer still the weather was around 23c. The restaurants and the food are fabulous and A1. Nite life is margvelous ranging from Rock clubs, jazz clubs, to various strip clubs and erotica. The women must be the most beautiful on the planet, my head was sore from turning left to right at the fabulous looking girls on the street, at lunch times, in the stores etc. I might add too they were dressed and groomed in latest styles and in the Clubs they were just fantastic.
Western music is played on FM stations all day and the stores are well stocked with supermarkets staying open 24 hours a day. Beers and wines are available 24 hours a day from supermarkets, take aways, kiosks etc.
Have to tell you Karaoke is alive and well in many areas of Russia from Moscow to Krasnoyarsk and Novosibirsk. I sang at a beaut outdoor cafe in the park karaoke, was shouted a hearty welcome from the audience when I said I was from Australia. I sang two songs (jazz types)and was asked to join the woman running it in a english/russian version of Mammy Mammy blue. Another night I went to a local pub which has karaoke. It's a average pub for people coming home from work, snooker tables, bar, and long tables and seats plus the karaoke screen. They had about 6 pages of English songs so I ended up singing 7 songs, two of them being requests from customers. One guy bought me a bottle of red for singing Yesterday. Also saw another big Karaoke club with 'Karaoke' aglow in neons.
Have assured my Russian friends I will try and return next year.
Cheers
