| From the Where2sing.com forum: WOW !! Christmas must have gone off with a BANG this year !! It seems forumers have been totally stunned since that jolly(?) day.... Rovics ...have you gone head to head with Rosalie on your singstar yet , or have you sent it back for a review of ''technical difficulties'' ?!! Who else (besides me) came to the realisation that they'd been more naughty than nice this year ? David...do they have a ''Santa Craus'' in China ? , or are you putting your hopes in 007 (the year I mean) having a license to thrill....
Sammo...did your comp ever get up & going? Personally , I'm hoping for a couple of new types of comps this year . What do you think hosts ?.... a comp for duets only ! Now I'm sure a lot of you might say ''naah'' , it just wont work , but if if it was cultivated over say , a 6-8 week period by giving away , maybe a bottle of champagne each week for best duet , leading up to the start of heats , & some decent promotion , you just might get a few clever people practising up some great harmonies ...it's one area of karaoke that has never been properly explored (that I'm aware of). Garry (rsk)...you were going to try & do something along these lines with broader/corporate peramiters....maybe just simplify it ....duets only , open to all comers . You know , I think Chatty's the sort of venue where it could work..... tell me when & I'll be there !!
Another type of comp I'd love to see happen is a ''re-write'' the song comp. Take a song , & change the words around .Again , at first glance one might say , ''Oh sh*t , can you imagine the gutter-mouths that could be let loose on this?!! '' & you're probably right , so as a comp , it might be more suited to a 30-60 minute (dependant on numbers)portion of an evening on a weekly basis.There's some pretty clever people out there in Karaokeland , & I'm sure some hilarious and/or brilliant literary songwriting talents could be unearthed....Hey , look at Weird Al Yankovich....he's made millions ..... how about Elvis' ''Teddy Bare'' , or Debilah Morgan's ''Dunce With Me'' , or Robbie Williams ''Fatter Man'' .....the possibilities are endless....!!
Anyhow , maybe there's something to think about..... I do hope all of you out there , whatever part you play in the Karaoke scheme of things , have a wonderful end to this year , a fantastic start to the new one , & that it all just gets even better from there !! Merry music-making...!!
