From the Where2sing.com forum:

re home recording: It's a good omen that some karaoke singers are extending their efforts to the next level and going to studios to record themselves. That is surely the best way to really get to know your sound. Along that route the next logical step is to make your own rock video clip. A company has now released software that makes that realistic for the amateur. Check out www.reallusion.com for their iClone and CrazyTalk software. The Australian distributor is Steven Lees-Smith of Select CG, www.selectsolutions.com.au (email: cgsales@selectsolutions.com.au). He'll give a great price such that your $A price is similar to the $US. The iClone @ $100 allows lip synch to audio track plus full character movement (many dance routines standard) while the cheaper Crazy Talk @$50 does a better lip synch but only facial movement. I've bought & recommend both great products. I was in the process of writing up a blurb on how to do your own rock video but events put me out of action for a month, so it's a new year's project.

re: booing apalling performances. I confess to doing this recently. A particularly annoying person insisted on yet again choosing the longest songs on the list then butchering these. On a crowded night this can kill 20 minutes and disadvantages many other singers. If the host turned them down to a whisper we could at least make conversation while such creeps vocally masturbate. Otherwise it makes more sense to go home. So I make no apology for the boo's. Plenty of people get their heads smashed in 'out the back' of rough pubs & clubs for far less, so I see this as a polite way of reminding people that there are others in the room and that a bit of cooperation and consideration are required for a nice evening out. I am not talking about people who are merely having a giggle or are vocally-challenged. Rather, I am referring to deliberately offensive song choice & delivery. Such people must enjoy peeing on kids' sand castles or cutting their kite strings.

So there's my sermon for the day. Tom
