From the Where2sing.com forum:

ok here we go i'm slitting my own throat here by putting my two cents worth in... BUT last i heard this was a free country for everyone to enjoy.. i am actually currently doing some in depth research into the legality of banning people from singing at karaoke as it seems a certain show and venue feels the need to ban me as i was dating one of the regular patrons there, and then when it wasnt working out, i had the audacity to break up with him instead of stringing him along.. i have a friend whom is a QC and is currently looking at setting up a test case in regards to this as it seems to have a MINOR conflict with the anti discrimination act in this country...

so instead of carrying on like karaoke nazi's for 'bad' singers and those of us who seem to offend just by our mere existence get over yourselves and give people a go, i thought thats what it is all about... if a show/venue can not control its patrons and provide a safe environment regardless of who you are, well what does that say about said show/venue.. i thought thats why security was employed at these places, they have a job to do and maybe it would be against the security laws and company policy for them not to do their jobs, with the law in mind... of course. it kinda gives me the idea they arn't very professional and since the ex boyfriend and i are still friends mind you, why do others have an issue when we dont...

so remembering that these so called 'bad' singers, and undesirables have mouths and minds and can use them, i feel that word of mouth will effect a shows attendance, therefore unhappy punters, regardless of quality will have opinions, they tell 1 person on the circuit, they tell another 5.... the possibilities are endless.. keeping in mind that also goes with good reviews.. but bad reviews tend to travel faster and are remembered more than the good.

then of course there are public forums...

so the moral to this story...

dont date someone from a show you go to if they are a regular ( and dare to break it off with them if it's not workin, you string them along further and hurt them more), and always jump to conclusions and make decisions without having the common decency to discuss it with the people involved or even accept the fact there maybe two sides to everything.

and Shazzy Deal, thankyou for your opinions, i just wish other people had the maturity and intelligence you do..

enjoy your karaoke people.

keep safe and well.

sing your hearts out, good or bad..
