| From the Where2sing.com forum: When was karaoke first started and by whom ? , well after watching a show on pay T.V today , the answer to these questions could well be this ....Bing Crosby and the erea was 'the early 1950's , Bing had a t.v show where he sang songs and then ask the folks in the studio & all the folks in ' tv land ' to once again sing these same songs along with him only this time the WORDS would appear on the telly with the 'Bouncing ball ' moving word to word in time with the singing , so i guess back then , thousands or perhaps millions were singing karaoke in there lounge rooms long before karaoke was ever thought of . heeeheeeee,
