Catman....There's that same theme again about noise levels. It seems , Tom , you may have got an important issue off the ground , (the hard way) . It certainly can be very physicaly & emotionally draining to go through a night where you have to shout hard to conversewith the person right next to you , especially if the quality of the entertainment is questionable . The term ,''sound tech'' , is used far too loosely for my liking. Maybe , ''sound terrorist'' is more appropriate . I know I've said this before , but there are far too many people , making far too much money , with far too little talent/ability , bringing far too much disrepute , to the Karaoke industry. There's been a lot of talk recently about how to deal with ''bad'' singers. I still beleive it's up to the sound tech to deal with it. While you're never going to make a ''bad' singer sound good , no matter how much effects of all sorts you might add, (same as you'll never make a good singer sound bad) , you can certainly reduce the ''pain'' level that the venue needs to deal with. I'm not saying this about Quackers Inn as I've only been there once about 12 months ago & I cant remember that , ( I can only remember I was shocked at how small the song list was back then) ,but it is avery common problem at many venues. When I first started in Karaoke in the early '90s , in Melbourne's eastern suburbs the few Karaoke operators were using professional band singers & sound people to front & run their shows . I feel that standard has slipped dramatically over the years....
