Hi.. I see alot about sound levels bla bla bla......

Last time i checked, this was the guidelines (please correct me if im wrong), Get yourself a dbA metre (cheap as) and be sure your within playing sound levels... I do every 10/20 Minutes, yet have never seen a Karaoke venue host ensuring that they are within the limits. Get this right....and there should be NO complaints from neighbors or Club management.

Theres nothing better that sitting down and trying to enjoy the sounds of someone singing like 'chalk going across a blackboard' at 120 dbA, LOL...it really does bring tears to my eyes. Volume level adjust to whisper :)

Current Laws/Regulations on Sound Levels

0 The softest sound a person can hear with normal hearing
10 normal breathing
20 whispering at 5 feet
30 soft whisper
50 rainfall
60 normal conversation
110 shouting in ear
120 thunder

Band Sound Levels Owing to venue licensing requirements most public venues have sound limitations and most customers who hire bands want the sound limited for comfort and enjoyment of all. It is suggested that bands should familiarise themselves with these requirements and learn to play well at the required levels if they wish to secure paid work or work in public. Accordingly the following rules will apply from the next band day on 30 January, 2005.

Band maximum sound levels must be limited to 95dbA, 3 metres in front of the stage. Most of our more skilled bands, particularly those working regularly, already do this. It is important for all bands to learn how to do this.
