| From the Where2sing.com forum: LBA: I am not asking you to change how you run the gig, I just mean how intense you are to deal with as a patron to a host. I have not noticed it as a thing that changes with the crowd... and Mike and Rob both run different shows but are easy to approach and say g'day. And M.A. is right, different night, different host although interestingly some of the die hard K's regulars followed Mike to Grumpies last night and M.A. you were missing for the first time in a while. I do think drink prices, food etc plays a part as well as location based on where you live and whether you are a driver. However LBA don't count on the management, I have been hitting Kellys for years and there has been about 5-6 different managers in 18 months and the only one who has stuck around hates Karaoke although he seems to have gained abit of respect for Mike and was heard to curse the change of hosts who 'don't do it how he likes it to run'. You are right in making a seperate identity but like it or not when you have a long time succesful host who is pretty much liked by everyone new or old, you do have to be aware, especially when you take on some of his signature ideas for the show (like the start up song) that you will be compared by people. It's human nature. Both Mike and Rob have a good repertoire of songs and fans and are often asked to duet etc as they are popular with the girls.
Anyway, I am rambling, you have to do it how you feel comfortable so if your happy then don't change, Mike and Rob have built a strong gig and following and you would pretty much have to be a total loser to stuff this gig up and your not. Saturdays are new and really can be your baby. I really hope it works as it's good for Everything Entertainment ongoing successful gigs I often work Sats or go to Grumpies so I only really hit Kellys on Fridays with Mike on. Maybe I'll do both one night for the extra support. Take care
