From the Where2sing.com forum:

James, fight fire with fire and sometimes it gets out of control and starts bigger fires.
You seemed to miss part of the point I was making. I wasn’t saying not to take any night for granted as you correctly stated, hence my comment of “I’m not advocating that you should become blasé at pubs but just enjoy without fear”. Blasé meaning not to be “laidback, unconcerned or carefree.
Yes society has changed and violence seems to be on the increase everywhere.
I’m not a goody two shoes and have had my share of fights too during my youth, both inside the ring and on the street.
I’m really not a person that sticks his head in the sand either but a person that does not believe in grabbing a broken bottle as stated by Johnny B to resolve or protect myself in a fight.
Johnny B post was worth noting however especially about “Better to either avoid trouble or be close enough to get security”
Part of my point which also seems to be lost, is that I feel safer at Karaoke Shows because most of the people go to have fun a share the same interests as me.
I’m not looking over my shoulder as I might do at a pub if there is a disco or bands playing.
To give you an example of this, I have been doing Karaoke at Peakhurst for just on four years during which there have been 3 fights on a Karaoke night.
None of these fights were Karaoke related or in the area where Karaoke is and they also happened prior to security being employed (security has been in place now for the last two years).
Peakhurst Inn did have a bad name for a rough pub year’s ago but Karaoke nights has seen a transformation to a happy and supportive venue.
Catman hope your boys are ok.

Kind Regards
Kev
