| From the Where2sing.com forum: Glad to see someone else pissed off with late starts. I think these hosts always pandered to this fantasy that the rooly rooly cool crowd would arrive late so ordinary working folk who might not want to rage 'til 2 AM didn't really count. Cessnock had been a notorious area for this, although they at least did have huge late crowds so probably knew their markets. One in Chatswood area started with great goodwill. Lots of Chats regulars showed up to help kick it off. We were treated like idiots, left sitting for well over an hour while the host fiddled with unnecessary disco lights. That one didn't last long. The fantasy crowd never showed. So, really the issue seems a commercial one - if the early crowd is non-paying then perhaps they don't count as much. On the other hand, regularity counts as people need to confirm that the karaoke's really on & an early albeit quiet start is at least an advertisement. Tom
