Oh for goodness' sake!!!
What tosspot decided to whinge about some ''random'' requesting duets with them in today's Boiling Point?

''what made my blood boil was that from my first song onwards another singer then requested all his songs to be duets with me. The problem with this was that he could not sing, which then made me look bad, something I did not want at a new venue and town'''

No... The problem was your lacking enough spine to just say ''no'' to duetting if you didn't want to. No one forced you onto stage with this person. First time, fair enough but subsequent ones? No excuse. Just yourself to blame. ''Ooh! But they INSISTED!!'' So frickety what??? Do some of your own insisting! You'll feel liberated when you do!
You don't have to be nasty when declining such requests. Just seem reluctant till they realize there's no changing your mind or better yet, say outright you'd rather sing solo. No harm, no foul as they say. If you are going to duet with a different person, don't think that counts against you... USE IT!! ''I'm already singing with 'so & so' and I really would like to get a (few) solo piece(s) in but thank you!' Then encourage the requesting party by saying they'll do fine on their own / without you or to find someone else to sing with them.
Engage BRAIN and magical things will happen, don't you know?
