| From the Where2sing.com forum: Hi Andrew, Probably same reason when they cancel Karaoke up here when there is a big boxing match on Fox or the State of Origin footy is on. They'll get people through the door whether there is Karaoke or any other entertainment on that night or not. Not all managers will be receptive but you might want to convince them with logic like maybe suggest move the time-slot of the Karaoke to suit. e.g. run a shorter Karaoke show after the footy, to keep 'em there, or in the case of the GP run it a little earlier. Then again maybe after sitting in the sun all day watching cars go around the punters will be too buggered to move once they find a seat at the bar. From the manager's viewpoint, throwing money at Karaoke may be wasted because of the type of crowd coming in......horses for courses they say. Regardless the host should have been proactive, talked to the manager and maybe pre-warned the singers in the weeks leading up to it.
