Condolences for not winning but like you said, the majority were taken by surprise. Sounds like you came away without any emotional scarring from the decision though so, that's good! You'd be surprised how much stock people put into these things as if it were proof of their reason to live or something!
Did you actually use any of the advice I gave or did you more or less decide to wing it? Your answer (one way or the other) could prove useful to other folk with upcoming comps as to whether or not to use the advice given for themselves...
