From the Where2sing.com forum:

Hi everyone

I was just reading through the front page and noticed the new 'Boiling Point' article, and I do concur with what the writer has said about hosts and panel operators not singing when there is a room full of people who have song requests in.

I would like to ask the question of some of the hosts on here - how many of you sing the first song of the night? If you do sing the first song, do you do it just to sing or is it to test out sound levels, equipment etc? Do you sing the last song of the night?

As all of the regulars on here know, I am the wife of a host, and Mick usually does sing the first song of the night, he does it to check sound levels as I watch Joe tweeking the mixer and coming out to see what the sound is like from the speakers, then he goes back and does more 'tweeking'!! Unless it is a very quiet night (something of a rarity at the Band Club these days) then Mick will not sing again and Joe does not sing either. Both of them believe that karaoke is for the singers and not for them to sing all the time.

I would be interested to get some feedback from hosts and singers alike on this one.

Have a good night everyone.
