I have to say I like being able to see the Audience when up on stage, it's comforting and relaxing being able to see my best buddies and throw them a little wave or a smile mid song. REALLY helps with the nerves, but I have found more recently that I am getting less nervous, I do feel more confident up there, particularly since starting practicing songs before the night. Nothing worse than doing a song sight unseen, and getting lost halfway through.
