my advice to you is to volunteer your time to a couple of karaoke hosts, ask them if you can host for an hour at the start of the night if they're quiet and get a feel for the different equipment that is out there. this will save you from buying 'the latest technology (DVD players)' and then finding out that they suck for doing any karaoke outside of your loungeroom. jump online and speak to Either Dave from Vegas karaoke or Aidy from BPM Entertainment, both of those guys will be more than happy to help you out and they both use very different types of rigs and equipment
