| From the Where2sing.com forum: James I have both a triple-decker and a Cavs Machine, on top of that I have a MP3 with music going.
Now the Cavs does take time to load a disc especially if there are 2 songs in a row that require a Cavs disc.
Since the smoking laws people don’t congregate in the one area of the Hotel and even if we do tell someone there next and there out in one of the back rooms of the Hotel, sometimes there is a slight delay between singers and yes I do talk in between singers but I still have background music going
If I went to a Disco and the DJ stopped the flow of music even if he did talk it would sound awful.
It’s not about how good an operator is or even if they have worked out how to work a triple-decker, to me it’s about constant flow of the sound music, a sound I personally like.
A sound that flows from the time you start to the time you finish.
I know of a couple of KJ that don’t play anything in between a when something goes wrong the silence is deafening.
As I said to Johnny B “Horses for courses”.
I regards to why some Karaoke Operators have 2 working is very simple.
It’s not a matter of whether you can do it alone –
It’s about setting up and packing up the equipment at the end of the night and if you see how much gear I take you would understand lol.
It’s about being able to involve yourself personally with the audience instead of just sitting behind the console all night.
It’s about having time to personally assist someone to find a song and still be able to put another singer on at the same time.
You see James I have done it many, many times by myself, but having an assistant, someone that looks after the rotation and singing slips and is there to help in general in my humble opinion is worth their weight in gold.
James this is not a rebuff to your post but and answer as to why.
