To the westie-oke crew :P...
Am considering heading to Penrith myself tonight for the Red Cow gig but may opt for Quakers Inn instead dependent on how I do for time.
In any event, good luck to you, netta! Lex, I hope you and your friends have a ball.

Kittitude...
I've seen him sing Johnny O'Keefe. I am not sure if I've ever seen him at a venue that doesn't hold comps, come to think of it...

catman...
Thank you! I hope to live up to expectations talent wise. No pressure, right? lol.
Haven't seen Gazza in a while as I have virtually been out of the game for more than 2 years but we always greeted each other around the traps & he's made the odd trip down to Chatswood RSL. I expect I'll be seeing him more often now if he is still doing the rounds. It's nice when chasers are still friendly like that rather than viewing you as purely a threat to their potential winnings or as being somehow beneath them regardless of their own levels of talent (there's a few snobs out there that's for sure).

I wonder which other familiar faces are still out there and how long they intend to keep doing the rounds... Oscar, Robert, Olivia, Dina, Jim (the scotsman), Rita & Peter, Joe, Vic...? Is there a whole new crop now too?

Hope I can get out of the scene before too long. I much prefer just enjoying time with friends singing the night away for fun.

Comps when you need the money can actually be really stressful cos you put so much pressure on yourself to win and you worry about who your competition is that night. Some get right nasty about it too by attempting to psych you out with put-downs before the comp even starts! Doesn't work on me. Just makes me all the more determined to cream them in the comp but I worry about the more fragile egos out there - especially the young ones. I saw one 19 y.o. girl gifted with the voice and looks to go with it, almost go to pieces cos of such an unfounded insult and actually state she was going to quit karaoke because of it. I hope she managed to bounce back from that eventually.

So, a little advice to the newbies to comps who have the misfortune to meet such creeps who insult you - even if you're not really in it to win. Don't take those insults to heart. It's probably not even their true opinion of your talent but merely a weapon to shake your confidence cos they don't feel confident enough to take you on even at their best. They feel they need to take you down a notch before they can take you on. If they need to do that, then you know you're better already, don't you? So why should you give a hoot what they think? :D Just show 'em what for in the contest. Who knows? You may just win! Even better if they don't even place! ;)
