I enjoy ANY (almost) Karaoke song sung well (including American Pie)....irrespective of its length.....'Jesus of Surburbia'.around 10 mins long.... is awesome if sung well......I get to go home ....take a nap and get back just in time for the next singer .....LOL
I think for us one of the most satisfying aspects of Karaoke is watching the growth of our singers over the years.....both in confidence and ability.....and whilst most may never reach any great heights as entertainers.......they at least have 'fun' trying..........and hopefully in the process will spend a few dollars over the bar..thus keeping me in employment....LOL
I think the benefits of Karaoke for many people goes way beyond just learning to sing and perform....... an aid to personal self confidence and development...particularly in areas such as public speaking, leadership and helping many to be less inhibited in their daily lives/relationships ...... as an aid to improve ones self image.... and as human beings all many of us seek is acceptance and above all recognition....what better way to achieve that goal than being applauded for your efforts?....be they ever so modest!
I agree with James......a prudent host should be able to use his judgement based on common sense and experience in all the areas mentioned...yes Yobbos do exist
