From the Where2sing.com forum:

Hi everyone

I wanted to get some feedback from the regulars on here about a singer that comes into the Band Club on a Sunday night, she is a good singer (and she knows it!!) she brings in her own discs but these are NOT karaoke discs, they are BACKING discs that an entertainer would use possibly on the club/pub circuit. I would say that this woman is possibly a singer in a restaurant or a club somewhere and uses these discs as her backing. What I would like to know from hosts who read this forum, (and I am writing this as the wife of a host as Mick can't type!!!) would you allow this woman to continue to sing from her own backing discs if she was singing at your shows? or do Mick and Joe put a stop to it?? This woman has been to the Band Club twice, but where does a host draw the line between singing from these backing discs to what the rest of the people come there for and that is to sing karaoke songs?? I know that there is a word for this kind of singing, but at present the word escapes me. People who know Mick would know that he would not want to say anything to offend this lady, but she is not coming to karaoke to sing karaoke songs, to me (and this is solely my opinion) she is a restaurant singer who is looking to try and further her career, she doesn't stand on stage to sing, she sings from the middle of the floor - so as I asked earlier - where does a host draw the line on this kind of thing?? I really would be interested in reading feedback particularly from hosts who also may have experienced this.

Have a good day everyone.
