I do my best to treat all customers with respect but I would also hope they show me the same in return ( it hasn't always happened). As an example, I have little to no Elvis in my list, this is a deliberate choice on my part and if someone comes and only wants to sing Elvis songs then it's unfortunate but maybe my show isn't really for them.
For every person I've lost due to these circmstances, I've gained 10 more who like the different sound my show has compared to some others.
In fact, the management of my current venue at first refused to put karaoke on as they had images of bad Elvis impersonators and drunk secretaries screaching out Love Shack or New York New York each night. I showed them my list and did a demo show for them to illustrate that's not what my karaoke was all about and been running a very sucessful show ever since. If I ever decide to move on to a different venue, at least the management of this venue now have a much more open mind about karaoke than before. I'd like to think that is due in part to my decision to filter the types of songs that are able to be performed at my show.
